ABOUT MIKKO
I was a first-year nursing student who studied constantly yet still felt like I was guessing on every exam. It wasn't because I wasn't working hard. It was because no one had taught me how nursing school actually tests you. I know exactly what that feels like because I lived it.
Shortly after graduating and passing the NCLEX, I made a decision that changed everything. I returned to the same nursing program I had just completed, this time as a teaching assistant. As I sat with students who were struggling in the same ways I once had, something clicked. I discovered my passion for teaching and realized I wanted to become the instructor I wished I had as a student.
At the same time, I was working as a registered nurse in the neuroscience, orthopedic, and observation units at a Magnet hospital. That experience transformed clinical reasoning from a concept in a textbook into a skill I relied on every single shift for every patient I cared for.
I have always believed that one thing no one can ever take away from you is your education. That belief has guided every step of my career. I went on to earn my Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner, passed my ANCC board certification, and am now pursuing my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. Along the way, I chose to continue teaching, focusing specifically on first-year nursing students because I believe mastering the fundamentals is the foundation for everything that follows.
My students are the reason The Nurse Mindset exists. Teaching showed me exactly where the gap was, and our brand is my answer to it.

Why I built this instead of pointing you to a question bank.
There are plenty of NCLEX prep resources out there. UWorld, Archer, and ATI are all valuable tools. But tools only work if you know how to use them.
When I started teaching, I saw it up close. Students sitting in my class who were clearly putting in the work, and still not getting the results they deserved. The gap wasn't effort. It wasn't intelligence. It was that nobody had taught them how to think through a clinical question, only how to memorize the content around it.
They inspired this. I built The Nurse Mindset because my students showed me exactly where the problem was, and I had the framework to fix it.
